“29th LET’S GO”
“THE BLUE AND GRAY”

The stories are many, this war has create
Of heroes and fame and battles great.
Decorations and ribbons, citations and such.
To recall in the future, will help very much.
It’ my pride and my pleasure, to write these lines.
Of the “Blue and Gray” the “old two-nine”.
Remember the beach on that summer morn
The 6th of June, where history was born.
Omaha Beach! Yes, that’s the spot
Where the 29th landed. The fighting was hot.
From the blood stained sands, of France they fought
To the “Siegfried Line,” for the victory they sought.
“Examples of courage” No I’m glad you ask
Cause to relate a few, is really no task.
To speak of the Valor, of the “old two-nine.”
I’m proud to state, is a joy of mine.
No shining heroes of world wide fame
With flashes a of news declaring their name
Just regular guys, human and tough
That are, “in there pitching,” when the going gets rough.
No need for medals, or insriptions in gold.
To remember “Isigny,” or bloody “St. Lo.”
The Battle of “Vire” was no sinch my friend,
And the “Siege of Brest” they stayed, till the end.
So remember please, when this is o’er
And you start telling tales, “of how you won the war.”
You’ll recall without effort, the part they play
The “Fighting 29th.” The “Blue and Gray!”
